The Index of Games
This is a living post, which I will update periodically as I get new game ideas or start to run old ones. If I've written anything else about an idea, I'll hyperlink to it from the idea's name.
Games I'm Currently Running
The Marble District
Planescape, the 2e setting, has fascinated me since I learned about it. The atmosphere and weirdness of it captured my imagination like very few published settings have. This campaign combines it with Skerples's Magical Industrial Revolution for a weird Victoriana fever dream. I run it for a small group of regular players and we have a blast; their gonzo plans and banter make sessions a treat.
Games I'd Like to Run
Rebels of Zorn
A Star Wars game, run with Luke Gearing's Violence. My main criteria when picking a system for this was I wanted stormtroopers to be scary. Violence was a perfect pick. Inspiration for this one comes in equal parts from Andor and the first season of Rebels. The former lends the feeling of a tooth and nail fight to survive against a superior force. The latter gives a small geographical scope and a feeling of change within that area. This could be run as a fixed group or an open table; I'm not sure which I'll choose just yet.
The Pilgrim Campaign
Probably to be run with a modified version of Pendragon for a small group. This game will be (as I envision it) highly episodic and focused on the player characters, their relationships, and the things they encounter on the road to the Holy City. A bit of The Decameron or the Canterbury Tales in an original fantasy world. mtb is working on his own pilgrim game in parallel with me, so I'm excited to see how our ideas diverge. I have a feeling they're going to be very different.
Untitled Megadungeon Game
Your fairly standard megadungeon open table save a few twists. For one thing, the PCs will be trapped in the dungeon a la Jenx's Zandan Megadungeon. For another (and I feel rather clever about this) the dungeon will be personified as a god that the PCs can supplicate for aid. Half your rations burnt to unlock this door, or something. My hope with this game is that it will help me build a community of like-minded nerds as I shift living situations this year.
60 Years in Space
Dan from Throne of Salt has cajoled me into eventually running 60YIS for myself. I mean, I say cajoled. Really he just twisted my already rubber arm about it; I'd been curious since reading his posts about it. And now it's actually playable! So my hard-scifi-loving ass is dead and buried, pretty much. This one's waaaaay on the backburner, though; I have other games taking priority for the time being.
